Key results

  • GUI and CLI entry points for macOS / Windows
  • Read-only originals, preserved folders, safe writes and CSV reports

Intended workflow

Compressed files should remain easy to locate, inspect and process again. QingTu brings input selection, compression settings, output folders and processing records into one local workflow.

File processing

1

Select images or a folder

Start from the desktop interface or CLI. Traverse batch input while retaining the folder hierarchy.

2

Read image properties

Inspect format, transparency and color information. Keep source files read-only.

3

Adaptive compression

Choose settings around quality and size targets while handling transparency and ICC color profiles.

4

Safe output and reporting

Write to a separate destination using atomic output and generate a CSV processing report.

Implementation choices

Python, Tkinter and Pillow supply the desktop interface and image-processing capabilities. The GUI serves everyday tasks; the CLI supports repeated workflows. Separate output and per-file reports make successful, skipped and failed items reviewable.
